A great TV in a great price. We all paid $2399.00, coming from Paul’s TV. We bought the #82838 and had been upgraded to the #82840 in no extra demand (I think the #38 had been out of stock/ discontinued). All of us ordered it just prior to Christmas and it appeared about 7 days later on, which we considered was impressive, because of the holiday – California(?) to Ohio per week! It was an easy setup and its light weight as well. My wife and I easily, even though nervously…, lifted it onto the TV “stand”. We purchased (2) blk/ brwn Besta Jarga($99 ea.)Tv set stands from Ikea that will put the TV on – both side by side w/o the included castors. This unit works well and was advised by a TV operator on another Amazon online review. While it is not necessarily glossy, we think the colour is a-okay, and we’re generally picky kinds… I like it better(looks & feature clever) than the Tech Art stand that Mitsubishi can be pushing, plus the prices are good. I’m sure there’s something nicer out there if you look…FYI, your Mit TV constructed in/on ’stand’ is for stabilizing just.
We have not done any kind of fancy or challenging set up or calibration but. I’ll update, if we do. Out of the box, the picture is good, but I consider I can tweek the color several and there is a sound callibration that is recommended…There is an mic, included, that is used for this purpose. I haven’t read about, or used it yet — will update. The actual 16 built-in speakers seem good, although we’ll probably end up hooking up our surround sound some day. Our sub woofer is Mitsubishi Diamond Series WD-82838 hooked up directly to the television, so this helps this sound better. I don’t see how “Immersive Sound” will ever change rear speakers…
So far my only complaint would be the lack of web apps – Absolutely no NETFLIX. This is past ridiculous, but it is how it’s, so the wireless Universal serial bus adapter we acquired was a total waste of money – that will stinks. Maybe it’ll get used for any firmware update some day? My own advice, save your cash, unless you like Vudu for whatever reason…At present, we use our PS3 regarding Netflix but we’ve been buying the Roku 2 XD. It is ashame and “BS” that our fresh, expensive high tech TV is so lacking in your apps, but at this point, whats another $80.00… Another complaint is usually that the Mitsubishi remote is not backlit — silly, very silly…The remote’s buttons & functions are laid out properly though. Oh, btw, the ipod remote software is cool, yet redundant and unneccessary. We have this application on an ipad… “Cute” would be a better description for your iod app (IMO) but I am just one of those folks who is yet to comprehend the actual ipod/ipad app fascination that will sooo many people seem to have……
So far, it seems like our own Kinnect camera works great on top of the TV(top wise).
Beyond that, this is one heck of a TV and a bargain! We got a new 5 yr. manufacturer’s warranty through Paul’s TV with regard to $249 and it included a good surge protector. It’s better than what we had on our previous 72″ Mit and I believed they said this surge protector retailed for 70 bucks. In any case, we have peace of mind for 5 years. Our outdated Mitsubishi, a 1999 style(?)we bought (utilized) 10 years ago, nevertheless works fine — but it’s a old compared to the new Hi-def 82″!!! No comparison.
